Visa Requirements
International participants attending the conference should apply for an Indian Conference Visa, as applicable. Participants from eligible countries may apply for an e-Conference Visa; those who are not eligible for the e-Visa facility should apply for a regular Conference Visa through the nearest Indian Embassy, High Commission, Consulate, or Indian Visa Application Centre.
- Upon confirmation of participation, the organisers will provide the necessary supporting documents, including an official invitation letter and the relevant clearance document(s) required for the visa application.
- Participants should complete the visa application through the official Indian visa portal or through the nearest Indian Mission, depending on their eligibility.
- While travelling, participants should carry their passport, visa, invitation letter, return/onward travel details, accommodation information, and any other documents required by the Indian immigration authorities.
- The organisers will provide guidance regarding the visa procedure, if required.
Note: Participants are strongly advised not to wait until the last few days before travel. Visa requirements and processing times may vary depending on nationality, visa category, and the concerned Indian Mission.
How to Reach NEHU
By Train
The nearest railway stations are Guwahati Railway Station and Kamakhya Railway Station. From either station, taxis are available to Shillong, which is about 100 km away.
Approximate taxi fare to Shillong is ₹500 per person or ₹2,500 for a full cab.
By Air
Option (a): Shillong Airport (30 km from NEHU). Taxi fare is approximately ₹500 per person or ₹1,500 for a full cab.
Option (b): Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Guwahati (120 km from NEHU). Taxi fare is approximately ₹1,000 per person or ₹3,000 for a full cab.
Note
- Shared cabs from Guwahati usually drop passengers at Police Bazar, Shillong. From there, participants should take a local taxi to the NEHU campus.
- A local taxi from Police Bazar to NEHU usually costs around ₹300–₹500 for a full cab.
- Participants arriving by shared cab from Shillong Airport may also need to take a local taxi to the NEHU campus from the final drop-off point.
- Based on arrival and departure details shared by the participants, the organisers will try to arrange pickup services from Shillong Airport.
- Participants are advised to prefer Shillong Airport, if convenient. The Guwahati–Shillong road journey is scenic but long and winding, and may be uncomfortable for those prone to motion sickness.
